It is about the possibility of using insect fat in place of butter, in order to reduce our damage to the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/voca.ro\/iDSoLzMK2xK\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Click here for a link the narration &gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can either download the MP3 file or stream it in another tab of your browser.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Try and read along with the original article on Reuters, linked below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4>Waiter, there&#8217;s a fly in my waffle: Belgian researchers try out insect butter<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>GHENT, Belgium (Reuters) &#8211; Belgian waffles may be about to become more environmentally friendly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Scientists at Ghent University in Belgium are experimenting with larva fat to replace butter in waffles, cakes and cookies, saying using grease from insects is more sustainable than dairy produce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Clad in white aprons, the researchers soak Black soldier fly larvae in a bowl of water, put it in a blender to create a smooth greyish dollop and then use a kitchen centrifuge to separate out insect butter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThere are several positive things about using insect ingredients,\u201d said Daylan Tzompa Sosa, who oversees the research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey are more sustainable because (insects) use less land (than cattle), they are more efficient at converting feed &#8230; and they also use less water to produce butter,\u201d Tzompa Sosa said as she held out a freshly baked insect butter cake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to the researchers, consumers notice no difference when a quarter of the milk butter in a cake is replaced with larva fat.
